In Europe, Turkey and Southwestern Asia, walnut sapwood is in grayish white and reddish white color, while heartwood color depends on age and growing location, and can be in gray and dark brown color and may have dark stripes. Heartwood has medium resistance. It can be processed easily and well, providing smooth surfaces. It has a medium degree of blunting impact. It can be stripped, carved, suitable for nails and screws, has medium degree of bonding, responds well to polish. Average specific weight is 750 kg/m3.
